FAQs

Does Commander Ratings keep any of my data?

No.  Commander Ratings only collects data to verify that submissions are coming from military personnel.  All user data is deleted upon this verification.  We do not and will not retain any information after verification of a rating or comment.  This verification is needed to ensure the integrity of the rating system.

Can I say anything I want in the comments section?

Yes, but please keep it professional.  No vulgarities or profanity.  Commander Ratings is not meant to be a complaint board, but a tool for higher leadership to review and monitor the actions and conduct of their subordinates.

My Commander broke the law and its serious. Can I post about this?

Yes, and we encourage you to do so for accountability’s sake; however, claims of this sort will require that you provide some sort of substantiating documentation, and we will contact you if necessary about this documentation.  These documents will not be retained by Commander Ratings and will be deleted upon verifying the claims made.

Why do you need documentation for serious violations?

Commander Ratings needs to substantiate serious claims of misconduct so that we can ensure the comments posted on a specific commander’s profile are genuine, truthful, and accurate.  For example, if a commander was sleeping with subordinates we’d need to validate a text message, or a sworn statement, or another document that proves the claim being made.  This way, we ensure that these serious violations are reported on the site, but are verified before posting.  Claims of this magnitude can be damaging to a career or reputation, and so we must do our own due diligence before approving these comment types on the platform.

What about Enlisted Leaders? Can we rate them too?

For the moment we’re starting with just commanders and the officer corps; however, we have plans to expand to E7 and higher ratings in the coming months, giving you even more of a voice to higher leadership about the performance of your leaders.

My Commander has threatened us not to use Commander Ratings. What should I do?

Commander Ratings is completely and totally anonymous unless you post identifying information in a comment.  As such, no one will be able to tell if you have used Commander Ratings or not.  Lastly, if a commander is demanding personnel to use Commander Ratings, they’re probably worried about something they’ve done getting out, which makes using Commander Ratings all the more important.

This site is only for the American military. Will other countries be added?

Yes, the next countries to be added will be Canada and the United Kingdom, permitted this platform is a success.

I’m an Officer and there is false information on my profile. What can I do?

If there’s demonstrably false information on your profile, please reach out to us for removal.  Removal will occur when substantiating documentation shows the posted information to be false.

Im an Officer and I do not agree with my rating. Can you change it?

No, we do not change a rating simply because the ratee disagrees.  We suggest being a better leader, which will in turn improve your rating on this site.
